Following on from the success of the Wedding Fair on Saturday 22nd Feb which promoted local Wedding suppliers and the Ceremony suite at Atkins Building, it also included a free prize draw to Win A Ceremony or a collection of Wedding gifts and vouchers from the Wedding Fair Exhibitors.
The winner of the Wedding Fair exhibitors prizes, a Miss Jenny Wilbur was presented with her goodies in the Ceremony Garden at Atkins Building on Tuesday 11th March by Building Manager Shaun Curtis and the Wedding Fair Exhibitors. Jenny was drawn from the entries by Susan Collins of the Pottery Shed and has won a fantastic collection of Prizes including:

50% off bridal make up with Wendy Louise Make Up
£50 of gift vouchers from Sue Todd of Designer Travel

Jenny came to the Wedding and Ceremony Suite Tours to look for ideas for her planned 2015/16 ceremony to her fiancé Paul Lavender and said” I came to the Wedding Fair to see what was available locally and to get ideas for our Big Day and I’m thrilled to have won the Exhibitors Prizes, it's a great way to get our Wedding planning started.”

The sunshine brought in over 175 visitors to the Atkins Building Wedding Fair last Saturday (22/02/14) where they were able to meet face to face with 21 local businesses working in the Wedding Industry in the Partridge Suite and outside on the courtyard including venue hire, catering, photography, bridalwear and much more! Hinckley Registration Services were at the Wedding Fair giving advice and providing tours of the newly decorated Ceremony Suite at Atkins Building. Visitors also entered a FREE prize draw to Win a Ceremony courtesy of Hinckley Registration Service and a selection of vouchers and products from the Wedding Fair exhibitors – winners to be announced soon!

Fully Fashioned Memories Exhibition goes on tour!

Fully Fashioned Memories is a Photographic exhibition looking back at the everyday employee who worked for Atkins factories how they celebrated special occasions and the impact factory life had on the local community. The project was in response to former workers and the general public expressing an interest in looking back at the way local people used to work and the changes in local manufacture and employment.

Nearly 100 former Atkins employees and friends attended the Reunion party at Atkins Building on Saturday 28th September as part of the Fully Fashioned Memories project.

Workers from all departments and years came together to reminisce and celebrate this unique part of Hinckley's social and industrial heritage. The reunion featured the Fully Fashioned Memories exhibition which has over 200 "vintage" photographs and various factory items lent by members of the Atkins community. The party also had showings of two films made by local film makers Stuart Watson and David J Wood on Atkins and Hinckley nostalgia and tours of the building so former colleagues could see how the Building is used now.

Future Footprints Exhibition

Future Footprints an exhibition on the History of Hinckley by Redmoor High School featuring archaeology, film, photography, reminiscences and fashion supported by Heritage Lottery Fund. The exhibition is on display in the Partridge suite at Atkins Building from now until Saturday 13th July. Despite the cold weather on Saturday 23rd February nearly 200 people came throught the doors at Atkins Building to see the 21 local exhibitors including Hinckley & District Museum who were showcasing their garden as a Wedding Photography location. Lots of prospective couples took the Ceremony Suite Tour and entered the Prize draw to Win a Ceremony. The event was photographed by the Nuneaton News and Atkins Building. Cafe Impressions and the Atkins Building Gallery also saw plenty of footfall and business.

The Winner of the Ceremony which was drawn by last year's winning bride Natalie Browne, who was married here at Atkins Building in June 2012. The next winner will be announced soon.

After the sucess of the 2012 Wedding Fair which showcased the talents of local businesses working in Wedding Products and Services, the event is being repeated and is a great way to support businesses in this area.

This FREE event will feature 20 local exhibitors including Hinckley & District Museum who will promoting their lovely cottage garden as a location for your Wedding Photographs. Hinckley Registration Service will be providing tours of the Ceremony Suites and giving away a free Ceremony in a prize Draw. Also look out for the promotional leaflets which have an offer for the onsite Cafe Impressions for any hot drink and a slice of home made cake for only £3.50

FREE Test screening of the Fillm Forty Three Pounds

A FREE test screening of the Film Forty Three Pounds is being shown at the Atkins Building on Tuesday 27th November at 6pm. The Atkins Building was a location for this film and this screening is one of a limited number of screenings taking place to gather feedback on the movie. Beautiful Weather and a FREE guided tour of three Grade Listed Buildings, what more could you ask for?
Atkins Heritage Tour was a joint venture between Atkins Building, Hinckley & District Museum and the Great Meeting Unitarian Chapel as part of Heritage Open Days 2012 of which over 55 people participated.

This was just some of the positive feedback received about the tour which allowed access and information to the buildings on the tour not always available to the general public.

FREE Guided tour of Atkins Building and two other Grade Listed Buildings

Atkins Building in partnership with Hinckley & District Museum and the Great Meeting Unitarian Chapel present the Atkins Heritage Tour as part of Heritage Open Days 2012.

On Saturday 8th September 10:30am starting at Hinckley and District Museum for a guided tour round the 17th century framework knitters cottages with Phillip Lindley highlighting the connection between the cottages and the Atkins Family. The tour then moves to the Atkins Building, former hosiery factory built by the Atkins Family. Business Centre Adviser Rebecca Wilbur will be guiding visitors round and focusing on the family's industrial past. The final part of the tour will be delivered by Pat Oliver of the Great Meeting Chapel who will be exploring the reasons why the Atkins Family chose the Chapel as their place of worship.

The Winners of the Free Ceremony from the Atkins Building Wedding Fair tie the Knot!

James and Natalie Browne were married at Atkins Building in the Paget and Goddard Suite on Saturday 23rd June with the ceremony kindly provided by Leicestershire County Council Registration Service. Natalie's name was drawn from the Free Ceremony Prize Draw box at the Atkins Building first Wedding Fair in February this year.
The bride had a bespoke wedding dress designed by local florist Brenda Payne who also arranged the flowers and the couple had their reception in the Partridge Suite at Atkins Building.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Browne and from everyone at Atkins Building we wish them the best for their future together.

CAMRA Beer Festival returns to Atkins Building this September

The 5th Hinckley beer festival featuring 65 Real Ales, 20 Ciders, Fruit wine and Perries.
Thursday 13th September to Saturday 15th September with live music on the Friday evening

British Youth Film Academy East Midlands Event

4th Hinckley Beer Festival

There will be about 60 beers on offer as well as about 20 ciders and perries and a good selection of fruit wines. There are also three new breweries on the list from last year. Hopefully, half the beers will be from the LocAle breweries ie breweries within 20 miles of our branch area.
Hot and cold food will be available throughout the Festival.
Entry costs £2 to get in if you are not a CAMRA or NUS member. You will require up to £10 to get in - £2 for a glass (refundable), the entry fee (if applicable), either £6 or £8 for beer tokens and a free Festival programme. Extra tokens can be purchased at any time. Surplus tokens can be cashed in or donated to the chosen charity.
