James Atkins left and Tom Atkins right - the last family managers of this historic local firm

Atkins Building hosted a family reunion for the Atkins Family on Saturday 26th April which was well attended by the hosiery generations and their children, with one guest travelling from Australia! The guest of honour was Mr Tom Atkins the last family director of this well known Hinckley firm who gave a speech and welcomed family back to their historic home. The family also visited the Great Meeting Chapel to see the graves of George and Elizabeth Atkins who along with their five sons started building the factory we see today in 1875. Inside the chapel the family received a talk from chapel volunteers Hugh Beavin and Pat Oliver about the Atkins family connections with the chapel and the contributions they made to Hinckley and the surrounding area.
