The Atkins Building wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
An exhibition from the pupils of Redmoor High School which opened today in the Atkins Building Reception.
The pupils with the support of the Clore Duffield Foundation and Hinckley Archaeology Society completed their own archaeological dig in the grounds of Redmoor High School to see what historical items were hidden in the playing fields. Armed with their finds the pupils met with older members of the community who had first hand memories of the site before it was a school, with assistance from the local experts from Hinckley Archaeology Society, the students could start to understand the finds and the context of the site. Finally the students met with two poets Stewart Henderson and Paul Cookson, who helped students develop imaginative responses to the finds, their input and encouragement helped shaped the poems that form the foundation of the exhibition.
The huge array objects found are on display at Atkins Building alongside the poems written by the students inspired by their finds. The exhibition also includes audio stations and QR codes of the pupils reciting the poems and a film of the Ghost Words Project.
Ghost Words is on now in the Atkins Building Reception until Friday 21st Dec 2012 for more details please see http://www.redmoor.leics.sch.uk/ghostwords
