The Big Draw comes to the Atkins Building

Date Posted: 22 September 2011

The Borough Council has teamed up with the Community Safety Partnership and Creative Hinckley to host a day of free drawing workshops on Saturday 8 October continuing on Monday 10, Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 October in Hinckley’s Atkins Building that aim to create the BIGGEST community drawing in town.
The workshops will take place each day from 10am to 4pm and people of all drawing abilities are invited to simply drop in and have a go at a variety of techniques. There will be expert advice on offer from a host of local artists including graffiti artist Richard Curtis from Hinckley Fire Station and admission and all activities are free of charge.
This year’s theme is ‘the Big Family’, so everyone is encouraged to come along, get involved and draw the people who make up the community around them, whether that’s members of the family or people from school, the police or the fire service. The Big Draw offers people the opportunity to have a go at expressing themselves, whilst at the same time meeting other people living and working in the community.
Borough Councillor for Community Safety at the Borough Council, Councillor David Bill said: “I know that there is a wealth of hidden talent in this area. Let’s see how much we can discover at these events. I would encourage people of all ages to come along on their own, with friends or with family to join in the host of creative arts and craft activities that are on offer. Whether you stay for 10 minutes or all day, come along and enjoy being creative at Atkins.”
